CincySpots- Roebling Suspension Bridge

March 19, 2018

This post is for those photographers that are always looking for the perfect view! In this post, I will teach you not only where to get a killer view of the city, but also some photo settings to use if you are on a DSLR and want to flex your photographer muscles to get a great shot.

One of Cincinnati's most iconic landmarks, the Roebling Suspension Bridgeis a can't miss when visiting the Queen City. Though its original creation was nothing short of a dramafest, the bridge opened for use on December 1, 1866. It was the longest suspension bridge in the world at 1,057 feet main span.

On January 31, 2018, my favorite person in the world proposed to me at the foot of the bridge, right on the very spot where I took these killer landscape photos of the city. To get to the best spot ever, follow the bridge to the Kentucky side, and settle in on its east side. Parking is available on the street, and here you can have an unobstructed view.

How to get this exact night shot using a DSLR:

Travel to the marked spot on the map and set up a tripod or a heavy, steady object where you can carefully set your camera. I used an 85mm lens to grab this view, but you can shoot it at any focal length available to you and it'll look amazing. (It's a heck of a view!) Set your ISO to 100, f/stop to f/18, and shutter speed will be 25 seconds.

When you visit this sweet little spot, please keep in mind that you are traveling to a residential area, so be kind and thoughtful during your time here.

I hope you enjoy one of my personal favorites! Have fun, and happy shooting!
